'My mind is blown': Ex-Google engineer in US shares post on Blinkit’s 10-minute deliveries

The statement prompted a wave of replies, with many drawing comparisons between the efficiency of India’s quick-commerce providers and the slower delivery systems in the US. One user asked: 'India is in the future – how do you think they did it?' Another remarked: 'Blown away by this when in India, but then you get back to America and everything feels so slow.'

Blinkit, founded in December 2013 and headquartered in Gurgaon, has become one of India’s leading platforms in the quick-commerce segment.

A former Google employee based in the United States attracted significant attention online after commenting on India’s rapid grocery delivery service Blinkit. Bilawal Sidhu, who works in artificial intelligence, posted about his experience on X, where the message received more than 2.4 million views.

In his post, Sidhu wrote: “So India has this app called Blinkit where you can get literally anything delivered in 10 mins. My mind is blown.”

The statement prompted a wave of replies, with many drawing comparisons between the efficiency of India’s quick-commerce providers and the slower delivery systems in the US. One user asked: “India is in the future – how do you think they did it?” Another remarked: “Blown away by this when in India, but then you get back to America and everything feels so slow.”

Sidhu responded to a follow-up question about the range of products available through Blinkit. When a user queried, “Literally anything? Anything in a convenience store?” he replied: “Yeah, pretty much! Also, groceries and electronic stuff too, depending on where in the city you are.”

A number of Indian users added their own accounts, noting that orders of groceries and household items had in some cases been delivered in as little as six to ten minutes.

Blinkit, founded in December 2013 and headquartered in Gurgaon, has become one of India’s leading platforms in the quick-commerce segment. The company operates using a network of decentralised fulfilment hubs, often described as “dark stores,” which allow rapid turnaround of customer orders. The application provides access to day-to-day necessities alongside household goods such as toiletries, cleaning agents and personal care products, with deliveries designed to reach customers within minutes.
