A Japanese man who made headlines after he spent Rs 12 lakh in getting a dog costume so that he could wear it and live like a pooch has now decided to rent out his costume to other like-minded people. The man, identified only as Toco, said that by doing this he hopes to help others fulfill their dream of “becoming an animal”.

The resident of Japan's east-central Honshu is offering the costume of his favourite dog breed, the collie, for rent at $320 (about Rs 28,000) for three hours and $235 (about Rs 20,400) for two hours, South China Morning Post (SCMP)reported. The costume weighs 4kg and has a movable mouth, tail, and paws. Wearing it, Toco has been able to shake hands, roll over, and catch frisbees like a real dog. Documenting his life as a dog on YouTube, Toco has also shared how he went out to socialise with other pet dogs, wearing a collar.

His channel has more than 70,000 subscribers. On Instagram, he has over 62,000 followers.

“Have you ever wanted to be an animal?" the website for the rental service read. "Have you ever imagined yourself as something other than yourself and felt excited? We offer a service that can help make that wish come true, even if only a little, by having you wear a costume.”

The service has been welcomed by Toco's followers and according to the SCMP report, time slots for February are already fully booked.

“When I was very little, every time someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would say ‘I want to be a wolf!’ And I would get very sad when adults told me it was not possible. Thank you for making these dreams come true,” a follower was quoted by the publication as saying.
