'Itni door kyun job liya?': Woman alleges auto driver ended ride midway, questioned her career

According to her post, the driver even began estimating her salary and expressed regret about accepting the booking in the first place. She described it as a jarring and unsolicited moment of life commentary. 'He should never have accepted the ride,' she recalled him saying during what she described as an impromptu rant.

The passenger further claimed that the driver questioned her choice of workplace.

In a widely discussed incident, a woman travelling to work in an auto-rickshaw claimed she was left stranded just a kilometre away from her office after the driver abruptly ended the ride and allegedly criticised her life choices. The episode, which took place during a 19-kilometre commute, was detailed in a LinkedIn post that has since attracted significant public attention.

“Yesterday, my auto driver dropped me off 1 km before my office. Mid-ride. Because ‘madam, itna dur nahi jaa sakta,’” she wrote, noting that the driver had already covered 18 kilometres before deciding he could not proceed further. The passenger further claimed that the driver questioned her choice of workplace, allegedly asking, “Itni door kyun job liya?” (Why did you take a job so far away?)

According to her post, the driver even began estimating her salary and expressed regret about accepting the booking in the first place. She described it as a jarring and unsolicited moment of life commentary. “He should never have accepted the ride,” she recalled him saying during what she described as an impromptu rant.

The situation prompted reactions across social media platforms. One user remarked, “18 km of dedication, and 1 km of unsolicited life advice. Auto rides in India really do offer full-stack experiences.” Another commented on the length of the trip, saying, “That's a lot of km for an auto ride.” A third person quipped, “Mad Auto Fury Road.”

In a separate but equally concerning incident, another commuter claimed on Reddit that an auto-rickshaw driver in Bengaluru used Instagram while driving, significantly slowing down the journey.

The commuter alleged that the trip, which typically takes 20 minutes, was delayed because the driver kept scrolling through his social media feed. “As soon as I got into the auto, the driver briefly glanced at the map and then minimised it. I assumed he was familiar with the route,” the Reddit user wrote. “But to my surprise, he immediately opened Instagram and started scrolling—while driving with one hand.”

The situation reportedly worsened when the driver came across a post featuring actor Sreeleela. According to the passenger, the driver slowed down “right in the middle of the road” to browse her profile in detail.
