Bengaluru’s unexpected winter chill has found its most dramatic commentator, and the internet is loving every second of it. Dana Marie, an American woman living in the city, has gone viral for her hilarious Instagram Reel where she shivers her way through what locals are calling “peak Bengaluru winter.”
In the video, Dana appears bundled up in four layers, clutching her jacket dramatically as she wonders aloud, “How did I survive a childhood in Michigan?” Even the caption joins in on the fun: “It’s 13°C… reading some actual comments from weather posts and adding more drama. I agree with them.”
Comparing the city’s current vibe to Europe, she declares, “Bangalore feels like London right now. The weather in Bengaluru is no longer Bengaluruing.” At one point, she even warns viewers that if they step out on a scooter, they may “freeze on the spot,” before delivering her final knockout line: “Bro, I think it might start snowing. I’ve forgotten what the sun feels like on my skin.”
The comments section instantly turned into a mini comedy club, with one user saying Dana perfectly captured “my mood swings all winter.” Another joked that the best way to survive this cold is to “sit in your car with the AC set to 29 and just enjoy life,” while a new arrival from Delhi admitted they “didn’t even pack winter wear for Bengaluru” and now regretted it.
Many agreed that the cold hits harder because Bengaluru homes don’t have heating. One commenter confessed that North Indian friends were laughing at them, but insisted that “13 degrees inside a house is a different battle—you’re absolutely justified wearing four layers.” Others used Dana’s video to reminisce, claiming this is exactly how Bengaluru used to feel in the early 2000s, with a few saying the weather reminded them of the city they grew up in during the 80s and 90s.
And of course, amidst the chaos, one proud Bengalurean declared, “Nah nah, Bangalore is SO Bangaloring right now,” suggesting this cold spell is proof that the city’s old charm isn’t entirely lost.
