Today every conversation begins and ends with AI. The transformative confluence of AI, Security and Cloud has ushered in a new age of opportunity and innovation.Moneycontrol and Intel Xeon are in the middle of the zeitgeist capturing the uniqueness of this moment in the series Envisioning the Future with AI, Security, and Cloud United. CNBC-TV18's Reema Tendulkar talked to Mohit Kapoor, Group CTO & Executive Board Member, Mahindra Group and Vikram Chauhan, Director & Head - Enterprise and Govt Business, Intel about the myriad possibilities that Industry 4.0 unlocks.Mohit Kapoor opened the conversation by detailing Mahindra's cloud journey, where in just two years itself, they've exceeded their three year target of moving 75% onto Cloud. Key to this achievement is the migration of their ERP, which is the largest installation in Asia on cloud. Intel has been an innate and intrinsic part of this journey.Vikram highlighted the four critical steps of a cloud journey of this magnitude – application assessment, workload placement, cloud optimization and repatriation. "It begins with workload characterisation: What kind of application are we migrating? Is it a lift and shift application, a cloud native application or a legacy application that needs significant code changes? The second step is workload placement by identifying the right instance for the workload: Intel® Migration Advisor by CloudGenera  helps in defining the best instances suited for the workloads. Intel® Cloud Optimiser by Densify helps customers understand the kind of resource required for running the workload and Intel® Workload Optimizer by Granulate, an AI based automated  solution helps enhance performance and reduce latency in cloud deployments  is the third step. Repatriation brings us to the last step."For Mahindra, the cloud journey has proven to be a gateway to industry 4.0 opportunities. The most exciting applications are in the realm of computer vision, IOT and the possibilities that 5G connectivity unleashes in the realm of connecting the manufacturing environment to the network to enable high speed inference and decision making. "To me, Industry 4.0 is all about the power of compute, the power of machine learning and AI, meeting the power of hardware, of IoT, 5G and cameras", says Mohit.Vikram too, delved into Intel's role in the proliferation of Industry 4.0 technologies. In particular, platforms like Intel® SceneScape that captures data from heterogeneous sources and helps develop 4D digital twin models, backed by Intel® Distribution of OpenVINO™ Toolkit and Intel® Geti™ platform, which boost neural network optimization and reduce the need for training data respectively. “Intel’s Automated Factory Solution, for instance, is a suite of digital twins that replicate the conditions in the factory precisely: from material handling to machines to workflow, creating immense possibilities in product design, process optimization and much more.” The conversation also delved into collaboration with Mahindra on XUV 700, Mahindra's early bet on Generative AI, and Intel’s recent announcements, including AI PC and Intel® Gaudi® 3 and their application from edge to cloud. Excited by the potentialities that the coming together of AI, Security and Cloud unlocks? Stay tuned.Moneycontrol Journalists were not involved in the creation of the article.
