Gaming laptops have been undergoing several changes in the last couple of years. Today, gaming notebooks are slim, light and portable, but despite the new form factor, these mobile machines still offer over-the-top performance. But HP is breaking the traditional overpowered chunky and slim yet powerful patterns with a new gaming laptop with two screens.
The HP Omen X 2S was recently introduced as the first gaming laptop in the world to feature two screens. So, let’s take an in-depth look into this sleek, innovative gaming machine.
Performance - The Omen X 2S runs on the recently released 9th Gen Intel Core H-series processors running six or eight cores.
Graphics - This dual-screen laptop comes equipped with two graphics options – Nvidia RTX 2070 Max-Q and RTX 2080 Max-Q.
Memory - The entry-level model features 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 256GB SSD going all up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM with a 2TB SSD.
Keyboard - The Omen also boasts a full RGB keyboard, 1.5mm fast action key travel, and N-key rollover.
Cooling - HP uses Thermal Grizzly liquid metal on the Omen’s CPU instead of thermal paste, which, according to the company, improves performance in Apex Legends by up to 28 percent. HP has also taken other steps to improve cooling to ensure minimal throttling by adding improved venting and fans system for better airflow.
Display - The primary display on the Omen X 2S is a 15-inch 1080p IPS panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and G-Sync support. You can also get a 1080p 240Hz G-Sync or a 4K HDR 400 60Hz panel. However, we’d recommend you stick to one of the 1080p panels as the higher refresh rate is much better for gaming than 4K resolution.
Second Display - Finally, let’s get to the biggest talking point of this laptop. The Omen X 2S boasts a 6-inch 1080p touchscreen above the keyboard to watch streams, chat, monitor systems stats through the command centre or listen to music. The second screen can also be used to pin and magnify a section of the screen, such as a map.
HP has announced the world's first dual-screen gaming laptop will arrive in June, starting at $2,099.
