Google has introduced its fitness app on iOS. The Google Fit, which is available on Android since 2018, has been redesigned with some new modes and features for the platform.
Google has introduced two new modes on the Fit app called Move Minutes and Heart Points. The new additions are aimed to help you build smarter, healthier habits throughout your day. Move Minutes tracks your movement and rewards you points for it. The faster you move with more intensity, the more Heart Points are earned. The points would help users close their exercise rings, which would bring them close to the weekly activity readings of the American Heart Association and the World Health Organization. The app also has a Journal that keeps users updated with their fitness record and statistics.
“Whether you go biking or pick up your pace while walking to your next meeting to earn more Heart Points, you can check your journal to track progress on these two activity goals and see how small changes can make a big impact to your health”, said Google in its blog post.
The Google Fit app can sync with other fitness activity apps like Nike Run Club, Apple Health, Sleep Cycle, Headspace, etc. Some of the data was already available on iOS through the Wear OS app, but it required the iPhone user to have a WearOS smartwatch to sync the data. With the newly updated app, Apple users can sync their Apple Watch with the Google Fit app to keep track of their movement goals.
