Teddy bear was invented by a person named Morris Michtom

A Russian Jewish immigrant in USA, Morris Michtom (1870-1938) used to sell candies during the day and make stuffed toys with his wife Rose during the night. He had come to New York in 1887.

In response to a political cartoon in a newspaper in 1902, Michtom created the teddy bear, which became a rage.

The teddy bears were such a hit with the masses that Michtom and his wife later founded the Ideal Novelty and Toy Company in 1907.

Till date, the teddy bear continues to be one of the most popular toys across the world.
