Prawin Ganeshan, founder and CEO of Kamakart.com, announced on social media that he had received a BMW iX1 as a gift from a close friend in China. The Indian entrepreneur, who describes himself as a “China sourcing expert” and runs a sex toy factory and sexual wellness platform, shared photographs of the electric luxury SUV on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, April 14 — the day of Tamil New Year.
According to Ganeshan, the car was gifted by his friend in fulfilment of a promise she had made the previous year during her wedding in China, which coincided with his birthday.
“Last year on my birthday, I was attending my close friend’s wedding in China. She had arranged a cake at midnight with a grand celebration in her hometown for me,” he wrote. “She asked me, ‘Tell me one dream that’s still unfulfilled’. I told her, ‘I want to drive a BMW one day’.”
Ganeshan said his friend had responded at the time: “Before your next birthday, you’ll be driving your own BMW.”
However, she surprised him much earlier than expected. On Tamil New Year’s Day, Ganeshan received a message from her saying: “Your dream car is ready, come and take it.”

In his post, Ganeshan shared pictures of himself taking delivery of the vehicle, which remains in China. He clarified that the car was not imported to India but would be used during his business visits to the country.
“This car is in China, not imported to India,” he wrote in response to a comment, adding that he had recently launched a new adult toy assembly unit in Dongguan. He further noted that although the friend who gifted the vehicle was not a business partner, he does conduct business operations in China.
Ganeshan stated that the BMW iX1 cost 2.5 lakh yuan, equivalent to approximately Rs 30 lakh in Indian currency.
In a reflective note at the end of his post, the entrepreneur addressed criticism he had faced in the past for his choice of business.
“Many relatives, friends mocked me [that] what a sex toys seller can really achieve. Success is the only reply, whatever business I do,” he wrote.
The post garnered attention on social media, with many congratulating Ganeshan while others expressed surprise at the nature of the gift.
