Shows of the latest Vijay-starrer 'Nanban', a remake of the Bollywood blockbuster '3 idiots', at a multiplex have been cancelled after suspected activists of a litte known tamil outfit broke glass panes of the complex and burnt posters of the movie.

Cut-outs of the film's director Shankar were also burnt last night after some activists, belonging to Indian Jananayaga Katchi, protested 'objectionable dialogue' in the movie denigrating the outfit's founder Chellamuthu, police said today.

All the night shows were cancelled, police said, adding, 33 persons belonging to the outfit were arrested. The owner of the muliplex S Oblichetty said to avoid further trouble, the movie would be screened only after the dialogue is deleted. Armed reserve personnel is maintaining tight vigil. Cases have been registered under various IPC sections relating to rioting and attempt to murder, police added.
