Elon Musk even called ketamine a "better option" in a post about depression on Twitter.

Billionaire Elon Musk surely knows how to make headlines and this time it was no different either. So, as per a report in the Wall Street Journal, the Twitter CEO uses small doses of a psychedelic drug called ketamine to treat depression and occasionally takes full doses of it when he attends parties. The Wall Street Journal quoted people who have seen him using ketamine and other people who had direct knowledge about the same.

Musk also told his friends that he micro-doses the drug to help manage depression. He even called ketamine a "better option" in a post about depression on Twitter. "Depression is over-diagnosed in the US, but for some people, it really is a brain chemistry issue. But zombifying people with SSRIs for sure happens way too much. From what I've seen with friends, ketamine taken occasionally is a better option," he wrote.

Ketamine is classified as an anesthetic and has some hallucinogenic effects. It is available only if prescribed by a medical professional. The drug is sold as a white powder, dissolved in liquid or pill form. The Tesla chief also talked about the "benefits" of ketamine in another post on Twitter.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Musk's alleged use of ketamine is part of a growing trend by Silicon Valley executives who have engaged in the recreational use of psychedelics for boosting business performance and creativity.
