SSC regional offices to get ISO certification by September

All the nine Staff Selection Commission (SSC) regional offices in the country will get ISO 9001 certification by the end of September, a senior official said.

Talking to reporters, Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Chairman N K Raghupathy said "the southern region has become the third region to get ISO 9001 certificartion. All the nine regions in the country will get the certification before September 30."

The certification also means that the Southern Region has separate computers for all staff and now they are connected to the server in the headquarters at Delhi. There has been an increase in the number of applications for various posts in the last two years, Raghupathy said.

SSC also plans to conduct a departmental exam online for the first time on July 12.

"The problem with online exams is that it is very difficult to get computers. Since the departmenal exam will need only few computers, we are going to give it a try," he added.

SSC also faces a crunch in staff to handle the increasing number of applications. "We need over 500 staff with special skills. We have asked the government for more staff", the SSC Chairman said.
