Lawyer seeks CBI probe into J Dey``s murder

A lawyer here on Wednesday approached the Bombay High Court seeking CBI probe into the murder of senior journalist Jyotirmoy Dey, who was gunned down by unidentified assailants last week.

A lawyer here on Wednesday approached the Bombay High Court seeking CBI probe into the murder of senior journalist Jyotirmoy Dey, who was gunned down by unidentified assailants last week.

Advocate V P Patil mentioned the matter before the division bench of Justices Ranjana Desai and R V More. The matter has been kept for hearing tomorrow.

"Five days are over and government has done nothing.Reporters all over the country are agitated," Patil told the court.

Demanding a CBI probe into the murder, Patil also sought for special protection to be given to journalists who complain of receiving threats.
Dey (56), Editor (special investigation) of Mid-Day was shot dead on June 11 by four unidentified persons at suburban Powai.

According to police, Dey's recent articles on oil mafia and underworld could have led to the killing.
