Demanding a hike in the minimum support price of wheat from Rs 1,285 per quintal to Rs 1,800, Kisan Morcha of Madhya Pradesh BJP today staged a rail blockade at various places in the state.
Nearly 150 BJP workers tried to enter Habibganj railway station, but were prevented from entering the platform area, Government Railway Police (GRP) sources said. However, some of the party workers entered the station after buying platorm tickets and held protests in front of the Khushinagar Express train which had arrived at the station and raised slogans.
BJP MLA and Kisan Morcha national general secretary Arvind Bhadoria, MLAs Vishwas Sarang and Jitendra Daga, Morcha's state vice president Bharat Singh and district president Gaurishankar Sharma were present on the occasion.
At Indore railway station, MP Sumitra Mahajan led the protests, in which, they tried to stop the trains. A party release said that similar protests were also held at Vidisha, Sehore, Betul, Sagar, Ratlam, Rewa, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Datia, Balaghat, Ujjain, Neemuch, Umaria and Khandwa.
The agitations were conducted in a peaceful manner and did not affect the rail traffic, sources said.
