Aarushi case: CBI brings relief for Nupur Talwar

In an interesting turn in the Aarushi Talwar murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has been raiding many locations to find her mother Nupur Talwar, told the Supreme Court on Friday that it did not intend to arrest her.

At around 1:30 pm, a white car with tinted glasses reached the Supreme Court and Nupur Talwar stepped out, putting all suspense to an end.

Flanked by her battery of lawyers and mobbed my mediapersons, Nupur entered the apex court, where her counsel had to challenge the non-bailable warrant issued against her by a trial court.

At 2 pm, the CBI, which had been on Nupur's trail since Wednesday, made a dramatic statement. Additional Solicitor General Haren Rawal said, "We know about her whereabouts but will not arrest her as the matter is pending before Supreme Court."

Certainly, the statement brought the much needed relief to Nupur Talwar.

"The court will hear the matter next week. The CJI will decide which bench will hear the matter. The CBI fairly said that Dr Talwar will not have any problem and the matter will be heard next week," said Nupur’s lawyer Mukul Rohatgi.

Supporters of the Talwars used the opportunity to lash out at the CBI's conduct.

The CBI was also bombarded with several questions after the hearing, the biggest one being – What was the reason to carry out raids all over Delhi when they did not intend to arrest her?
