A special CBI court took cognisance of the charge sheet filed against former Uttar Pradesh minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and IAS officer Pradeep Shukla along with three others in connection with the multi-crore NRHM scam.

Apart from issuing a notice to the former minister and the IAS officer, special CBI judge S Lal also summoned former MD of PACCFED V K Chowdhary, chief engineer M M Tripathi and superintendent A K Srivastav, to appear in the court on December 16.

The trio are currently lodged at the Dasna jail. The CBI charge sheet has alleged that officials of PACCFED favoured certain firms and released payment of Rs 16.93 crore on the basis of forged documents. PTI Corr SOM RAI
