2G case & Chidambaram: Court allows Swamy to depose

A trial court in Delhi on Thursday accepted Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy's plea to examine two witnesses in the 2G scam case.

Swamy is demanding that Union Home Minister P Chidambaram be made a co-accused in the 2G scam case.

The two witnesses are the then sports secretary Sindhushree Khullar and Joint Secretary finance and the Joint director, CBI Harish Chand Awasthi.

Swami will now present his case on oath against Chidambaram on December 17. This is the first legal step for Swami to prove his case against Chidambaram.

Court says if it is convinced by Swami's testimony, it will pass an order on whether to make Chidambaram an accused or not.

Swami has been allowed to build his case and argue that these two witnesses should be examined to prove his case against Chidambaram.

"My petition is accepted with a rider that I wlll be examined first. I want two officers to be examined. On December 17, I will enter witness box and examine my self. After December 17, court will decide if they want to call Khullar and Awasthi as witness in the case," Swamy said.
