Imran Masood, the Member of Parliament from Saharanpur, received an unusual yet heartfelt letter on Wednesday from a group of children in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, urging the Congress leader to clean up a local playground.
The handwritten appeal, penned by young residents of Masoodabad Colony in Aligarh, was brought to public attention by Masood’s nephew, Qazi Hamza Masood, who shared the letter on social media. Posting it on Instagram, Qazi described the appeal as the “cutest application”.
The letter, addressed directly to the MP, described the deteriorating state of the only recreational space available to children in the colony. According to the letter, the plot in question is reportedly owned by Imran Masood. The children explained that they frequently play there due to the absence of any other open area nearby.
“We, the children of (Masoodabad Colony), are writing this letter to request your kind attention. There is a plot in our locality which, we have come to know, belongs to you. We often play in this ground as we do not have any other open space nearby. It is the only place where we can play together,” the children wrote.
The letter went on to describe the growing hazards in the area, including overgrown weeds, scattered garbage, and even the presence of snakes. “However, the ground has become dirty and unsafe because of wild plants, garbage, and overgrown bushes recently. We even saw two snakes, which has made us and our parents very worried. We love to play there but now it feels dangerous,” the letter added.
The post shared by Qazi Hamza quickly gained traction on Instagram, garnering thousands of likes and hundreds of comments. Many users found the letter endearing, while others urged the MP to take immediate action.
“One of the kids must have persuaded their elder sister to pen this down,” one user commented, reflecting on the thoughtful articulation of the request.
“So is the plot clean now? Show the pictures,” wrote another user, keen to know the outcome.
“I am sure MP sahab will definitely work on these children’s request asap,” read another supportive comment.
"As a school owner we love reading such kind of applications," a user remarked.
Although there has been no official response yet from Imran Masood regarding the clean-up, the viral letter has prompted widespread attention and appreciation for the children’s initiative.
