A landlady in Bengaluru has been booked for illegally renting her property to two Ugandan nationals without notifying authorities or submitting mandatory documentation, Deccan Herald reported.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) raided the residence in Chudasandra on August 26 and rescued the two women, who were found to be residing without valid papers. The homeowner, identified as Ambuja, failed to submit Form-C — a legal requirement when leasing property to foreign nationals — and is currently on the run.

The case has been registered under the Foreigners Act. Bengaluru police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh reiterated the importance of compliance. “The homeowner did not submit Form-C, which is mandatory. The police were not informed. We are appealing again to follow legal and mandatory provisions when renting to foreigners. Failing which, legal action will be taken on both the landlord and the tenant/s,” Singh told the publication.

Bengaluru techie sues employer for leaving him stranded in Uganda, wins over Rs 3 lakh

In an unrelated incident also involving Uganda, a Bengaluru-based technical consultant has won a civil suit against his former employer for unpaid dues and withheld documents following a contentious overseas assignment.

Rakshith MV, a resident of ITI Layout, Papareddipalya, joined Locus IT Services Pvt Ltd in 2016 and was deputed to a client project in Kampala, Uganda, in December 2019. The project ran into delays, and Rakshith alleged he was stranded until July 2020 without financial or technical support.

He claimed his salary was arbitrarily halved, provident fund deductions were never deposited, and expenses totalling rs 3 lakh were not reimbursed. Despite repeated requests, decisions were conveyed verbally by the firm’s managing director, leaving him without written proof.

After his resignation in August 2020, Rakshith sent a legal notice in 2021, which was returned “unclaimed.” He filed a civil suit in January 2022. The additional city civil and sessions court, presided by judge Shivanand Maruti Jipare, ruled in his favour, ordering the company to pay Rs 3 lakh with 6 percent annual interest and release his original educational certificates.
