WhatsApp on April 16 said that it is rolling out new chat filters that will enable people to find important messages faster, without having to scroll through their entire inbox.
Users will be able to choose between three filters that will appear at the top of their chat list, namely, 'All', 'Unread', and 'Groups'.
The "All" filter will be the default view, showing users all their messages in the inbox. The "Unread" filter shows messages that are either marked by the user as unread or haven't been opened yet.
The "Groups" filter, which the Meta-owned messaging app says was one of the most requested features, organises all the group chats in a single place, making it easier for the user to browse through all their group messages. It will also show subgroups of communities.

The filters will be rolled out to users starting today and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
"We believe filters will make it easier for people to stay organized and find their most important conversations and help navigate through messages more efficiently. We'll continue to build more options to help you focus on what matters most," the company said.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is also working on filters such as "Contacts", which that will allow people to view messages received from mobile numbers saved in their address book, and "Favourites", which will show messages from their favourite contacts.
These filters will come in handy as people increasingly use WhatsApp for all purposes in their daily lives, right from work communication to social and family interactions, thereby leading to a potential overload of messages.
