WhatsApp on December 12 announced that it is launching the ability to pin a message in individual and group conversations on the app, a move that could help users find important messages in an easier manner.
Users will be able to pin all types of messages including text, poll, image, and emojis, although they can pin only one message at a time. Pinned messages will remain at the top of the chat window as a banner. WhatsApp said that it has started rolling out the feature to all users across the world.
To pin a message, one can long press on any message in a conversation and select 'Pin' from the context menu, following which a banner will appear that will enable users to select the duration of the pinned message - 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. WhatsApp said that 7 days will be the default option.
In group chats, admins will have the option to select whether only them or all members will have the option to pin messages.
This feature can come in handy for users to have quick access to timely information such as dates, times or meeting locations instead of sifting through past messages, which otherwise can be quite tedious in busy groups or individual conversations.

It is also introducing the ability for people to use two WhatsApp accounts on the same device apart from allowing them to automatically silence incoming calls from unknown contacts and
Earlier this year, WhatsApp expanded its broadcast-based messaging feature Channels to India and over 150 countries. The feature allows people and organizations to send text, photos, videos, stickers and polls to users who follow them within the app. Other recent feature additions include instant video messages and screen-sharing during a video call.
