Meta’s newly launched social platform Threads, has recently crossed the 150 million members mark, and to further boost engagement, it has launched a limited-time bonus payment program. This payment program is part of a new invitation-only bonus program that rewards creators for viral posts.
Threads viral posts provide payment up to $5000
Eligible creators who have received the invite will need to sign up for this bonus program on Instagram, and this program is currently limited to Threads or Instagram users in the US. However, the social media giant might expand this initiative to other regions in the future.
Meta has also created an Instagram support page for this program, that offers some details about the bonus program. It states that creators can earn money “based on the performance of your Threads posts” or “the number of posts you create.” However, the details of the payment structure and eligible payment will vary from user to user.
According to a screenshot by Matt Navarra on Threads, Meta is paying up to $5,000 for posts that have gone viral amongst Threads users, with certain conditions applying. TechCrunch has also revealed that a minimum of 2,500 views on a post is one of the prerequisites for payment eligibility.
In addition, posts on Threads that contain copyrighted content, have boosted views, or have no text will not qualify for bonuses. Meta further states that no watermark from another website, such as YouTube or TikTok, should be present in the content. Furthermore, the post shouldn’t be about a brand partnership.
