It has been almost 18 months since Apple refreshed its line up iPads. However, if a new rumour is to be believed that’s about to change soon. According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is gearing up to launch not just one but two new models of iPads. As per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, new iPad Pro and iPad Air models could launch in the week starting May 6.
Rumour has it that a new 11-inch iPad Pro alongside a 13-inch iPad Pro could be launched. If Apple does launch the 13-inch iPad Pro, then it would be the biggest iPad — as per display size — model yet.
There is also talk of a 12.9-inch iPad Air being launched. Apple, as per Gurman, is unlikely to host an event for the launch of new iPads but could do a ‘press release’ launch.
iPads aren’t the only new arrivals expected in may. In terms of iPad accessories, a brand new Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil are also expected to launch.
iPad Pro, iPad Air: What to expectAccording to multiple rumours, both iPad Pro models are expected to feature an OLED display. The current models have a micro LED panel and the move to OLED will give iPads more brightness and better viewing experience. Gurman has also hinted that Apple could increase the price of the iPad Pro models in 2024.
As far as iPad Air is concerned, a 12.9-inch display would make it the biggest iPad Air launched by Apple. Currently, it is available in a 10.9-inch size. It is not known if the iPad Air will come powered by an M2 or M3 processor. The iPad Pro, on the other hand, is likely to get an M3 processor.
Apple is also expected to change the design of the Magic Keyboard significantly. Rumours suggest a larger trackpad and an aluminium base is in the works for the Magic Keyboard.
