OpenAI has updated ChatGPT to allow users to upload and analyse files along with not having to switch manually to a model to perform functions.

The new functionality is in beta and is available to the company's premium ChatGPT Plus subscribers. With the new update, it is now possible to upload and modify an image with one prompt.

Users can also directly chat about PDF files and other document types. Users simply need to upload and start prompting the model.

Another new quality-of-life feature is the ability for the model to switch between other models such as DALL-E automatically and based on context, instead of requiring the user to trigger the change with a prompt. Manual selection is still available to those who prefer it.

Once you upload a file to ChatGPT, it will take a few moments to analyse it and then you can prompt the model to summarise the data or answer any questions related to it. It can also generate visualisations based on the document you upload.
