Amazon has shared a study conducted for them by Nielsen Media, that says one in two Indians are looking to increase their spends online.
According to the study, 81 percent of customers will shop online during festive seasons, and 75 percent trust the online e-commerce platforms to provide genuine products.

Up to 75 percent of customers say that Amazon offers the widest range of selections and variety across different products and brands.
As many as 51 percent of customers said that they shopped for large appliances on Amazon, 44 percent looked for smartphones, 43 percent had an interest in consumer electronics, 41 percent in grocery items, 40 percent preferred home appliances, 38 percent vouched for apparels, and 35 percent said that Amazon was their preferred platform for beauty products.

Eighty-seven percent of customers in metros, and 86 percent in tier-2 cities said they wanted to shop online during the festive season. Seventy percent wait for sales, 76 percent wait for launches, and 75 percent said that attractive bank offers and EMIs are what they want.
"The festive period is the favourite time for consumers and sellers across India. We are inspired to learn that consumers this year are excited and willing to spend and shop more online," said Manish Tiwary, Country Manager for the Indian Consumer Business at Amazon India.
