Adobe rolls out AI-powered assistant to help search, summarise PDFs

Earlier this year in February, Adobe revealed its Acrobat AI assistant in beta version to help users search, summarise PDFs. Now, the company has officially rolled out the public version of Acrobat AI.

What is Acrobat AI Assistant?

According to Adobe, Acrobat AI Assistant is a new generative AI-powered conversational engine that is deeply integrated into Reader and Acrobat workflows. Acrobat AI Assistant's features give users the option to work more productively with their PDFs as well as other formats, including Word and PowerPoint.

Adobe is bringing Acrobat AI Assistant to all devices with the introduction of mobile and web extensions. On mobile, it is available in beta on Acrobat Reader app with voice commands, enabling customers to use their voice to ask AI Assistant questions, summarise documents and more.

Acrobat AI Assistant is also available through Acrobat’s existing Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge extensions, allowing even more users to quickly get from web search to comprehension and action in an instant.

What features does the AI Assistant bring?

Users can chat with their PDFs and other documents. AI Assistant recommends questions based on a PDF’s content and answers questions about what’s in the document through an conversational interface. It also acts as a PDF summariser for users to get a quick understanding of the content inside long documents with short overviews in easy-to-read formats.

Acrobat AI Assistant subscription plans are available on desktop and web in English — other languages to follow. AI Assistant on Reader mobile (beta) is available in English for free for a limited time directly in the Reader mobile app.
