AMD shows off next-gen Trinity APU on notebooks

While Intel’s IDF conference is on in full swing; not too far away, AMD showed off their next-generation APU running on some notebooks. The upcoming APU is being called Trinity and it will be a more powerful version of the Llanos. Anandtech was present at this showcasing and while they weren’t allowed to run any benchmarks or see any numbers, they did shoot a few videos of Deus Ex in action. The video shows an Intel Core i7 based laptop and the other running the upcoming Trinity APU running at a resolution 1366x768. Normal settings were used for the shadows, depth of field and SSAO. The AMD spokeperson can be heard saying that Fraps was turned off, on purpose. Going by the video, the game does look to run smoother than the Intel platform. 

The Trinity APU is based on the Bulldozer architecture and although there’s no official date yet, it can assumed that it’ll be out sometime in the first quarter of 2012. AMD’s Bulldozer processors for the desktops, called Zambezi are yet to hit markets. The server chips called Interlagos were launched under the Opteron line-up, just a week ago.
