Apple, like Facebook is going with the mantra of ‘If you can’t beat them, hire them.’ After news broke that Facebook reportedly hired hacker, George Hotz, it seems that Apple has followed suit and hired Nicholas Allegra who is most popularly known for his JailbreakMe tool. Allegra, who goes by the alias Comex, has revealed in a Twitter post that in the week after next he would begin his internship with Apple.

Comex’s JailbreakMe tool, is a one step jailbreak for Apple’s iOS mobile operating system that takes advantage of the Safari browser in the device. Comex had first created the tool in 2007 and has been able to allow users to jailbreak their iPhones, iPod Touchs and iPads without the hassle of syncing it to a PC. The JailbrekMe tool comes bundled with a Cydia software, which acts as an alternative to Apple’s App Store. Allegra has released JailbreakMe 3.0 in 2011 and this was the first one that was catered for an iPad, as well. JailbreakMe 3.0 has already been used to jailbreak more than 2 million iOS devices. Details about his role as an intern have not yet surfaced, but one can guess that it is to enhance the security of Apple’s mobile platform.  Let us know your thoughts on Comex interning at Apple in the comments below.
