Autodesk, a company that does 3D design, entertainment and software, announced its Autodesk 123D app that is available for the iPad. The app is free and allows users to convert pictures they take using their iPad's camera to upload the images to Autodesk's cloud service and convert into a 3D model. Autodesk already has a version of its software for the desktop and recently launched some online releases as well. The Autodesk 123D app is meant to complement the desktop and online versions and allow users to capture the world around them in 3D. The idea is that vacation pictures, family pictures and other events are brought to life in 3D. Captures made in 123D Catch can also be used as the foundation for further 3D modeling, 3D animations, or can be used to create a 3D printed object.Click here for full story
