Asus has always been a strong supporter of open source software and in the past we've seen them officially support third party firmware for their routers, like the infamous RT-N16 Wi-Fi router. Today, they have once again done something that will make the modding and developing community jump with joy. The Taiwanese computer manufacturer has released a bootloader unlocking tool as an APK on their site, so now users wishing to install custom ROMs simply have to install the APK and run it - it’s that simple. It seems like Asus is one of the few companies (other than Samsung) to have realized the importance of the modding community and that a phone will only be as successful in the long run depending on how easily one can mod or customize it.Click here for full story
