Plans for Rage 2 cancelled, id Software working on Doom 4

Doom as a franchise has been pretty dormant these last few years. According to Kotaku, Bethesda has confirmed that a new game in the series is being developed. So far named simply Doom 4, the game will be making its way to next-gen consoles.Sources have told Kotaku that development of the game is not going very well, so the company doesn't have any concrete release dates for the game. The development was apparently rebooted in 2011 because of this."An earlier version of Doom 4 did not exhibit the quality and excitement that id and Bethesda intend to deliver and that Doom fans worldwide expect," Bethesda's marketing boss Pete Hines said in a statement. "As a result, id refocused its efforts on a new version of Doom 4 that promises to meet the very high expectations everyone has for this game and this franchise. When we're ready to talk about the Doom 4 id is making, we will let folks know."
