Typhoon Saola makes landfall in South China's Guangdong

Packing winds of more than 200 kph as a super typhoon, Saola was among the strongest storms to menace the southern province since 1949, which became a severe typhoon, according to authorities, as it made landfall in Zhuhai city with winds slowing to around 160 kph
Taiwan, China on alert as typhoons approach

Taiwan issued torrential rain and strong wind warnings for most of the island on Wednesday as slow-moving typhoon Saola approached, while in China, Premier Wen Jiabao told authorities to be on the highest alert to prevent deaths.
