The armed forces are seeing landmark defence reforms with the establishment of the Department of Military Affairs, institution of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and soon to be formed theatre commands, the Navy chief said.
Addressing a press conference on the eve of Navy Day, Singh said the Navy has put in place a standard operating procedure in the event of any infringement of its maritime domain in the Indian Ocean region by China.
Touching upon the Navy's modernisation initiative, he said the force envisages induction of three aircraft carriers so that two carrier battle groups (CBGs) are available for deployment in the Indian Ocean Region at all times.
