  • Israel removes map showing incorrect depiction of Jammu & Kashmir after backlash

In a rare incident, Israel removed a map of India from its official website after it inaccurately depicted a part of Jammu and Kashmir as belonging to Pakistan. Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, explained that the map was taken down, describing it as a "website editor’s mistake." The map had displayed the state of Israel alongside countries of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. After social media backlash, particularly on the platform 'X', where users flagged the error, Azar responded, "Website editor's mistake. Thank you for noticing. Was taken down." India consistently asserts that Jammu and Kashmir is an inseparable part of the country. This "map fiasco" occurred while Israel is engaged in conflict with Iran’s proxies in the Middle East.
