The Union Territory has seen investments grow from Rs 841 crore in 2017-18 to Rs 76,000 crore worth of infrastructure projects underway. J&K is building roads and highways at breakneck speed.
“We have already identified two projects and work has started for the first project,” Praveer Sinha, chief executive officer at the Tata Group-controlled firm said in an interview with Bloomberg Television.
The Union minister informed that another 18,000 MW of hydro projects are currently under construction and 13,000 MW are under various surveys and investigations.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Power Minister R K Singh said steps are being taken by developers/government for revival of the stalled projects.
Renew Power Services is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Renew Power Pvt Ltd. This is in line with the declared L&T focus of divesting non-core assets and improving shareholder value, L&T said in a statement.
Union Water Resources Secretary Amarjit Singh will lead the Indian delegation comprising representatives from the Ministry of External Affairs, Power, India's Indus Water Commissioner and Central Water Commission.
"Presently, 41 HEPs (above 25 MW), aggregating to 11,792.5 MW, are under construction in the country. All the above projects are running behind schedule," Power Minister Piyush Goyal said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.
The total power generation capacity of the 16 projects is 5,163 MW and the anticipated completion cost of these projects would be Rs 52,306 crore while their original cost was Rs 27,027 crore, he said.
"The Secretary-General has made clear his hopes for the ratification of the Paris Agreement by a large number of states as early as possible, so he would be pleased by swift action by India. He looks forward to receiving India's instrument of accession," UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's deputy spokesman Farhan Haq told PTI.
In the meeting, the NHPC team discussed various aspects regarding the hydropower scenario of the state with emphasis on the Subansiri Lower Project and Dibang Multipurpose Project, the release added.

Tata Power is actively looking at opportunities to develop hydro projects as part of efforts to boost its renewable energy portfolio which is expected to make up about one-fourth of its overall generation capacity by 2020.
Abl Srivastava, Director-Finance, NHPC in an interview with CNBC-TV18 spoke about the latest happenings in the company. The company would be investing Rs 2,400 crore for 2,120 megawatt projects in Jammu & Kashmir and has signed a pact with J&K PDC and PTC for the same.
