Javadekar was addressing the 12th ASSOCHAM National Education Summit themed 'Making India Global Powerhouse: Catalysing Reforms and Innovations'.
"This will directly benefit a total of 29,264 teachers and other academic staff of state government funded institutes. Besides, about 3.5 lakh teachers and other academic staff of private colleges or institutions within the purview of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) will also benefit from the approval," Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters.
He also lauded the country's sportspersons for their attitude and confidence at the world stage. "No government alone can do it. It's a collective effort," he stressed.
With opposition leaders accusing the government of politicising surgical strikes, Javadekar, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, rejected their criticism as "absolutely ridiculous and false".

A committee constituted by the HRD ministry to prescribe modalities for Yoga education in universities has suggested that UGC should provide grants of Rs 10 crore to institutions for starting new departments of Yogic Art and Science.
