Following the necessary sanctions, the Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) economy coaches will be inducted in all express and mail trains running LHB coaches. However, these coaches will not be added in the Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto and Jan Shatabdi etc. trains.
Acknowledging their presence of mind and the services rendered on the day of the accident, Railway board chairman Ashwani Lohani said, "They (the drivers) displayed sincerity, dedication and performed like true railwaymen. And, we therefore recognise their services"
Brands will find prominence on trains as the railways have offered the inside and the outside of compartments for showcasing products.
Railways will replace couplers of nearly 3,500 coaches of Rajdhani Express to make the train ride jerk-free and improve safety.
The trip between the two cities will take two hours using the new train, with a maximum speed of 350 km/h. Currently, the country's Duronto Express links the two financial cities in around seven hours. As part of the 508 km-long corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, a 21 km tunnel will go under the sea.
