The prime minister is also scheduled to interact with Kisan Drone pilots and startups in the drone exhibition centre during the ‘Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022’ festival, a statement from Prime Minister’s Office said.
The PLI scheme reflects the faith of the government in India’s budding drone industry whose annual sales turnover is expected to register a seven-fold growth in the next couple of years
The Civil Aviation Ministry has permitted the ICMR to use drones up to a height of 3,000 metre to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to Manipur, Nagaland, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Drone Rules 2021 spell good news for the remotely piloted aircraft industry in India which will be enthused to realise its potential and claim a slice of the global drone market, expected to top $24 billion by 2022
"The new rules will enable the industry to fully leverage technology to drive innovation in critical growth sectors. From precise interventions in farming over large areas to delivering medicines in far reaches of the country to delivering goods with zero human contact," Nasscom said.
The government had announced the new drone rules on July 15 and invited comments from stakeholders and the industry were lauded by stakeholders for simplifying procedures and reducing the compliance burden
As part of the new rules, the government has abolished the need for a drone licence for some criteria, reduced the number of forms required to own a drone in the country from 25 to six, and made it easy to grant permission to obtain a licence and operate a drone.
