While Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set an aggressive goal of reducing 10% of India’s imports by 2022, of which crude is a major component, Ashish Bhandari, CEO-Energy, GE South Asia believes mapping the east coast for resources will be a step in the right direction.
According to Ashish Bhandari, CEO-Energy, GE South Asia, India has limited energy resources and the demand for oil and gas over the next 15 years is set to double posing a unique challenge to the country.
India is not an oil and gas “rich†country, but a lot can be done to maximize the potential, says Ashish Bhandari from GE, while shedding more light on the latest contract with ONGC, wherein GE will supply critical technology for offshore oil exploration.
