Arvinder Singh Lovely joined the BJP at the party headquarters in Delhi in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. He had resigned from the position of Delhi Congress president on April 28.

Lovely had resigned as chief of the Congress' Delhi unit in 2015, taking moral responsibility for the party's worst-ever performance in the assembly elections.
Lovely, who was a Sheila Dikshit loyalist, quit the Congress following differences with Ajay Maken.
