CIAN Agro Industries, a company run by Nikhil Gadkari, son of the Union Minister, has been the centre of a controversy over dramatic rise in profits and revenues since the time the BJP-led government mandated 20 per cent ethanol blending in petrol.
Flex engines, or flex-fuel engines, are designed to run on gasoline and any blend of gasoline and ethanol or methanol, including pure ethanol.
Gadkari said that 65 per cent of India's population is engaged in agricultural activities, but their contribution to the country's GDP is only 14 per cent.
"You think I am doing this for money? I know how to earn with honesty. I am not a wheel-dealer,' Nitin Gadkari said while addressing an event organised by the Agricos Welfare Society in Nagpur
As many as 4,80,583 road accidents were recorded in India in 2023, resulting in 1,72,890 deaths, according to a MoRTH report.
Of 1.8 lakh deaths, around 66.4 per cent of people belong to the age group of 18 to 45 years, Gadkari said, stressing awareness towards following traffic rules and assisting accident victims in hospitalisation
Gadkari said these stretches will have hydrogen filing stations, set up by India Oil and Reliance Petroleum.
