The Yarn Expo at Shanghai is bringing the confidence back in the Indian textile industry.

Indian textile industry is likely to be hit hard by the tariff war initiated by the US president Trump. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it loud and clear that India is not going to bow down to any pressure. US tariffs are likely to severely impact one-fourth of India's textile exports in the next six months, according to experts, even as traders grapple with order cancellations in their biggest export market. Now the Indian textile industry is picking up the threads as the Indian Consulate General in Shanghai Pratik Mathur aptly puts it that the thread of prosperity is weaving stronger ties with China.

India’s presence at the Global Expo is shining the spotlight on our vibrant textile innovations such as contamination-free and completely traceable Kasturi cotton.

India's textile exports to the region soar impressively, boosting regional trade and economic synergy. India continues to strive for creating sustainable growth opportunities driven by PM's call for AtmaNirbharta with a goal of creating Viksit Bharat by 2047.

India's textile and apparel (T&A) exports reached $37.7 billion in 2024-25, contributing 8.63% to total merchandise exports, with the United States and the EU as major destinations. The country ranks as the world's sixth-largest T&A exporter, with a global trade share of around 4.1-4.5%. Key export categories include cotton textiles, readymade garments, and man-made textiles, while recent growth has been driven significantly by the apparel sector.
