A sudden spell of rain on Monday evening provided much-needed relief from the intense heatwave to parts of Hyderabad. The downpour was unexpected and surprised many people as they were heading home from work, unprepared for the wet conditions.

Mossapet experienced the heaviest rainfall, with 30 mm, followed by Hydernagar at 17.8 mm, Kukatpally with 17 mm, Balanagar at 16.3 mm, Shamshiguda at 14 mm, Yousufguda with 13.3 mm, Gajularamaram at 12.8 mm, and Borabanda receiving 11.8 mm of rain.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a thunderstorm warning for 28 districts across Telangana, including Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.

The alert predicts thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds at isolated locations throughout the state on Tuesday. The department has advised the people to remain cautious due to the possibility of sudden weather changes.

For Hyderabad and nearby regions, the IMD forecast predicts cloudy skies for the next 48 hours, with a chance of light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds in some parts of the city. There is also a possibility of hazy conditions during the mornings. The temperature is expected to range between a high of 36 degrees Celsius and a low of 27 degress Celsius in this week.

While the rain brought relief to many, the heat had been extreme before the showers. On Monday, Nalgonda recorded the highest temperature in the region at 42.9 degrees Celsius, while Hyderabad's Bahadurpura area saw a high of 41 degrees Celsius.
