Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday attacked the Congress over its "lack of support" for the Centre and the armed forces after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
"We had the support of the world but, sadly, no support from the Congress," he said while addressing the Lok Sabha during the debate on Operation Sindoor.
His comments came after the speech by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi earlier in the day.
“….he [PM Modi] must deny in Lok Sabha that Trump is a 'liar' and we did not lose any planes,” Rahul Gandhi said, adding, “It is a very dangerous time and we cannot afford a prime minister who doesn't know how to use the Army. We cannot afford a prime minister who doesn't have the guts to say from here that Donald Trump is a liar," said Gandhi.
However, PM Modi said India got support of the entire world.
"There has been a lot of discussion on foreign policy and the global support India received after Pahalgam and Op Sindoor... the truth is no country in the world stopped India from acting to protect itself. In fact, out of 193 countries only three supported Pakistan," PM Modi said.
PM Modi alleged that Congress was importing narratives from Pakistan and criticised the party for questioning the Army. He also highlighted efforts to demoralise the Indian forces.
"On one hand, India is moving ahead at a fast pace towards self-reliance, but Congress is becoming dependent on Pakistan for issues. Unfortunately, Congress is importing issues from Pakistan..." he said.
The PM said opposing the armed forces, negativity for armed forces has been the old attitude of Congress. "Pull up all of Pakistan’s statements and the statements of those who are opposing us here, they are exactly the same with full stop and comma...The country is surprised that Congress has given a clean chit to Pakistan. They dare to ask for proof that the Pahalgam attackers were from Pakistan..." he said.
