In a pointed attack on Congress leader P Chidambaram, Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked 'Why is the Congress leader trying to shield Pakistan? What will he get by such remarks." Shah went on to add that such statements only lower India's global attempt to fight terrorism.
Former home minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram had triggered a massive political controversy with his comment in an interview, in which he said "homegrown terrorists" could be involved in the Pahalgam terror attack and said why is the government not provinding adequate prrof of their Pakistani origin.
Chidambaram in an interview with The Quint said, "Have they identified the terrorists? Where they came from? I mean, for all we know, they could be homegrown terrorists. Why do you assume that they came from Pakistan? There's no evidence of that."
“With Operation Sindoor, PM Modi gave a befitting reply to the masterminds of the Pahalgam attack,” says Mr. Shah. He adds that over 1055 witnesses were interrogated by NIA after Pahalgam attack," said Shah.
“One Basheer, Parvez had given refuge to these terrorists. It was found that the terrorists had lived with him and then travelled to Baisaran on foot with AK-47 and Mi-9 carbide guns. With this, three Pakistani terrorists were killed and two locals who had given them refuge are arrested. These terrorists were also involved in the APCO terror attack,” remarked Shah.
He rebuked Chidambaram for questioning the nationality of the terrorists saying, “We have their Pakistani voter ID, gun licenses and Pakistani-made chocolates. A former Home Minister is giving Pakistan a clean chit and questioning why we had attacked Pakistan without proof. The 130 crore citizens of India will not forgive you,” admonished Shah.
