President Droupadi Murmu on Friday welcomed her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin with a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Putin received a Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar were also in attendance.

Before flying back to Russia, Putin will attend a dinner with Murmu at 7.30 pm.

Let us find out how much these two Presidents earn.

What is Putin’s official income?

According to Reuters, Putin's declared annual salary stands at roughly $140,000, and his listed personal assets include an 800-square-foot apartment, a small plot of land with a trailer, and three vehicles. However, this is his basic salary and doesn't reflect all the benefits he receives. Putin receives various presidential benefits, including a government residence, full-time security deployment, extensive travel facilities, and other government-provided amenities.

However, the Russian president is worth up to $200 billion, according to financier Bill Browder Browder testified in 2017 that Putin's wealth was amassed after the Russian oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky was jailed in 2003 for fraud and tax evasion.

What is Murmu’s official income?

A report by Financial Express stated the monthly salary of the President, who is also the supreme commander of all three armed forces, was revised in 2018 from Rs 1.50 lakh for a month to Rs 5 lakh per month.

Apart from the salary, the President enjoys certain perks. He/she can travel anywhere in the country free of cost via air, rail, or steamer and can bring one person along whose expenses will also be covered.

The President also receives free medical services and attendance.

The President lives in a rent-free home, has two free landlines (one for internet connectivity), a mobile phone, and five personal staff members. The home maintenance is also covered.

If the President dies while in office, the spouse will receive a family pension at the rate of fifty percent of the pension admissible to the retiring President for the rest of their life. The spouse will also receive free medical services for life.
