Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to speak in the Lok Sabha at 2pm on Monday addressing key aspects of the ongoing West Asia conflict.
According to reports, the Prime Minister is expected to outline India’s position on the evolving situation, including its diplomatic engagement, concerns over regional stability, and the impact on global energy and trade routes.
The address comes amid heightened tensions in West Asia, with disruptions in critical maritime corridors and growing concerns over the safety of Indian nationals and assets in the region.
The PM on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting to review India’s preparedness in key sectors including petroleum, crude oil, natural gas, power, and fertilisers, in light of the evolving situation in West Asia.
According to reports, the meeting focused on ensuring uninterrupted supply chains, stable logistics, and efficient distribution of essential resources across the country as geopolitical tensions continue to rise in the region.
Earlier this month, PM Modi said that the situation in West Asia was a "matter of grave concern for us".
On March 5, the PM addressed a joint press statement alongside Finnish President Alexander Stubb, underscoring the growing importance of India-Europe ties amid global instability.
Speaking against the backdrop of ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia, PM Modi described the current moment as one of “uncertainty”, while positioning India and Europe as key diplomatic actors entering a “golden era” of partnership aimed at promoting stability and development.
PM Modi recently also spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the deteriorating security situation in the Gulf region amid the ongoing US and, Israel war in Iran.
In a post on X, PM Modi said he expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions, particularly the loss of civilian lives and damage to civilian infrastructure in the region.
“Had a conversation with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the serious situation in the region. Expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions and the loss of civilian lives as well as damage to civilian infrastructure,” the Prime Minister said.
He said that the safety and security of Indian nationals remains a key priority for the government, alongside ensuring the uninterrupted movement of goods and energy supplies.
“The safety and security of Indian nationals, along with the need for unhindered transit of goods and energy, remain India’s top priorities,” he said.
The Prime Minister also reiterated India’s commitment to peace and stability, calling for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the crisis.
