Rahul Gandhi Reiterates Vote Theft Allegations

Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday once again alleged large-scale electoral fraud in previous assembly elections, claiming that his party possesses "explosive" and "dynamic" evidence of vote theft.

Speaking to reporters, Gandhi stated that the tampering of votes was no longer a claim, but a "fact."

“We are about to present dynamic and explosive evidence. The slogan ‘vote chor, gaddi chor’ is echoing across the country because it reflects the truth. Governments are being formed by stealing votes, and we guarantee that we will provide the proof,” Gandhi said.

Gandhi’s comments follow a press conference on August 7, where he accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of direct involvement in voter fraud. At the time, he described the evidence held by the Congress as "open-and-shut proof" of electoral manipulation.

As part of his claims, Gandhi cited findings from Congress’ internal research into polling in the Mahadevapura Assembly constituency in Karnataka, alleging the theft of over 1,00,250 votes. He launched a blistering attack on both the BJP and the Election Commission, accusing them of collusion that enabled Prime Minister Narendra Modi to win a third term.

He further alleged that the electoral process had become “choreographed,” implying it lacked transparency and fairness.

Meanwhile, ahead of upcoming assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi spearheaded a 16-day ‘Voter Adhikaar Yatra’ in Bihar, alongside RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. The campaign sought to highlight alleged irregularities in the state’s voter rolls, which opposition parties have described as a continuation of “vote chori” (vote theft).

Covering over 1,300 kilometers across 20 districts, the yatra concluded on September 1, aiming to mobilize public opinion and demand electoral reforms.

Currently visiting his constituency of Raebareli, Gandhi met with employees from the Feroze Gandhi Unchahar Thermal Power Station, part of the NTPC. He spent the previous night at the plant and is continuing outreach with local residents from Raebareli and Unchahaar.
