Congress on Tuesday filed a FIR against BJP's IT cell head Amit Malviya and Republic TV's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami alleging defamation of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
The Indian Youth Congress (IYC), in a post on X, said that both of them made a malicious attempt to malign Congress and they will not stay silent.
"Under the direction of @IYC In-charge Shri @Allavaru Ji, National President @UdayBhanuIYC Ji, and Our Chairman @RoopeshINC Ji, an FIR has been registered under non-bailable sections against @amitmalviya and Arnab Goswami Editor-in-Chief, @republic for defaming the constitutional office of the Leader of Opposition, Shri @RahulGandhi ji," IYC posted on X.
"This malicious attempt to malign @INC , provoke unrest, and undermine national security is a direct attack on democracy. We will not stay silent," it added.
IYC further said that any attempt to spread fake news against our party or its leadership will be met with firm legal and political response.

Earlier today, BJP's IT cell chief Amit Malviya called the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi “modern age Mir Jafar" and said that the Congress leader is “speaking the language of Pakistan and its benefactors”.
Amit Malviya made these remarks after Rahul Gandhi called out External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for his “damning silence" on the number of aircraft India lost under Operation Sindoor.
The FIR against Arnab Goswami has been filed after he claimed that Congress has a office in Turkey's Istanbul on his show.
Additionally, Amit Malviya shared Arnab's clip on X and wrote "The FIR is for this video. Imagine."

Meanwhile, before Congress announced the filing of the case, Republic had issued a corrigendum, saying it had inadvertently used an erroneous image depicting Congress office in Turkey.
Heres the original clip as it was aired on Arnabs show on 15 May 2025, which in no way made the erroneous visual reference which was made at the jr producer/video editor level post-show. The inadvertent error once pointed out was immediately rectified. We regret the error. https://t.co/BQQDHR2xwNpic.twitter.com/uBBBjpD8IZRepublic (@republic) May 20, 2025
