Issuing the first statement after chairing a cabinet meeting in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said that the meeting -- first time that the J&K government has held a cabinet meeting outside the two cities of Jammu and Srinagar.
The meeting of the J&k cabinet comes a month after terrorists killed 26 tourists in Pahalgam's Baisaran valley. Following one of the worst terror attacks on civilians, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 demolishing nine terror centres across Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (Pok) and Pakistan. India inflicted severe damage on Pakistan's military infrastructure over the course of four days, subsequently leading to an understanding, initiated by Pakistan, to halt cross-border military attacks.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Abdullah said: "It was not just a routine administrative exercise, but a clear message—we are not intimidated by cowardly acts of terror. The enemies of peace will never dictate our resolve. Jammu & Kashmir stands firm, strong, and unafraid."
The choice of the venue-- Pahalgam aims to show solidarity with the residents of the tourist town, which has experienced a sharp decline in tourist footfall since the terror attack that resulted in the deaths of 26 people, mostly tourists.
